Design your workflow
Start with the task. Build from there. How we compare AI tools
Choosing a tool starts with the job you need done. Our decision guides compare workflow fit, access requirements and practical limitations. They link to the provider documentation used and show when those sources were checked.
What the different pages mean
- Decision guides: editorial recommendations based on documented capabilities and stated use cases. They are not controlled benchmarks or claims of hands-on testing.
- Model profiles: directory records for particular model versions, including historical versions. Specifications and prices may need rechecking with the provider.
- Ratings: values stored in the directory’s rating system. They are separate from the reasoning in our decision guides and do not establish comparative performance. Anonymous voting is not proof of a verified purchase or expert assessment.
- News and roundups: summaries of reported developments with source links. AI assistance does not turn a provider claim into independently verified evidence.
How to read a recommendation
A suggested starting point is conditional on your task. Read the limitations and compare it with your actual workflow. We do not derive a universal “best model” from star ratings, model names or vendor benchmark claims. The new comparison tables link directly to provider information; these links carry no affiliate tracking parameters.
What would count as a tested review?
A useful test records the tool and version, date, prompts or task, settings, acceptance criteria and results—including failures. It measures review effort and cost as well as output quality. Where we have not recorded that evidence, a page should be read as a documentation-based guide, not a tested review.
Freshness and uncertainty
A “sources checked” date describes a documentation check. It is not a promise that prices or features will stay unchanged. Current pricing depends on plan, region, billing period and usage. Unknown pricing should remain unknown; it should not be presented as free. Check the linked primary source before buying or building an integration.
Corrections
If you find a problem in an article, leave a comment with the affected claim and a supporting source. Comments are moderated. For a directory discrepancy, use the provider link on the profile to verify the current information. Our team page explains who is behind WAMIB.
